While studying at Blantyre Secondary School, I noticed that students with hearing impairments did not always have access to sign-language interpretation. There was only one special teacher supporting the school, making it difficult to provide interpretation in every classroom.
One of my classmates, Vincent, was my desk mate. I decided to learn basic sign language so that I could communicate with him and help interpret lessons.
But I realized that I could not be available in every classroom, every meeting or every situation.
